Highlights of the Week (23/24 Term 1 Week 20)

Hello friends, welcome back to school! We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday with families and friends! Our PN friends had a happy start to the week since we had the new theme to talk about-which was “My Body”. We started off with singing a song called “If you are happy (touching-our-body-parts version)” with our Pippa and Pop friends. We also had so much fun helping Pippa and Pop find their eyes, ears, mouths and noses in the classroom! For English, we focused on revising the letter I and J.  We were really engaged in the sorting game where we had to put some toys in the baskets that start with the same letter as the toys! For Math, we did some reviewing from number 1 to 5. We played several number games and our favourite was the “Searching for the Balloons” game! We had to search for the balloons that were marked with the numbers (1 to 5). We were super excited and had to be very careful when holding the balloons! It was an incredible week at school! We can’t wait to continue our learning journey next week!

We had a lovely time greeting our friends and teachers this week while wishing them all a ‘Happy New Year’. Everyone has been so excited to share stories about their break and pictures that they have taken for their Christmas celebrations. In Cambridge this week, we revisited our weather related vocabulary and delved deeper into the topic by looking at how we dress according to weather conditions. In Phonics, we introduced the sounds /h/, /i/ and /j/ and played some revision games to reinforce our retention of the previous sounds. The highlight of our phonics time this week was making some delicious jam sandwiches together! Critical Thinking this month is all about ‘People who help us’ and this week we spoke about firefighters and the tools they use to help us and keep themselves safe too. We loved dressing up as firefighters and role playing putting out flames on our interactive whiteboards. This tied in very well with our wonderful birthday party theme, where we all dressed up as individuals from different occupations. We’re so happy to have started the year with so much enthusiasm and hope this sets the tone for the rest of the year.

For Critical thinking, this month we are looking at different occupations and starting from this week, we are looking into the job of a chef. We watched videos of different chefs in which they were making different types of meal. We looked at chefs that make Western, Chinese or Japanese food, as well as pastry or dessert chefs.  We also talked about different types of chefs require different types of utensils or ingredients to produce yummy food. As a class activity, we each designed our own menus with a bit of money concept being introduced in the activity.  

For Math this week, we are looking at combination of numbers up to 8 where two sets of different objects were given and our K2 friends had to make up their own combinations of the number (up to 8). We also practiced writing out numbers 30 to 40. This is to help us become familiarized with the numbers and to complete the worksheets of neighboring numbers for the following week.

Welcome back everyone! We hope everyone had a fantastic break during their Christmas holidays. We hit the ground running this week with beginning our “Occupation” unit in our Critical Thinking lessons. We discussed a very important job in particular - paramedics. We also talked about how important it is to be prepared for emergencies. In our Math lessons this week, we discussed place values of ones and tens. Challenge your child to see if they can distinguish how many ones or tens are in a double digit number, such as 92. In our Physical Play this month we will be doing strength building exercises, starting with the upper body this week. We have done diamond push-ups, push-up plank and hold, and the wheel-barrow walk. Try some out at home!

主題---「郊游」

    今週為主題「郊遊」的第一週,老師與幼兒一起探索香港的郊野公園,了解公園的設施和景色。 在活動中,幼兒探索了郊野公園的生態和美景,他們發現除了戶外遊樂設施外,公園還有許多可愛的動物和美麗的花草。其中一些孩子還分享了與家人一起燒烤的有趣經歷。他們對郊遊活動表現出濃厚的興趣和熱情。

    另外,老師與幼兒認識野餐時常用的物品,例如野餐墊、野餐籃、餐具和飲料等。同時,透過閱讀故事《一起去郊遊》,幼兒了解郊遊時需要注意的事項,例如保持環境整潔、尊重大自然、注意安全等。其後,老師與幼兒一同模仿野餐活動,一同準備野餐的食物,將食物擺放在野餐墊上體驗到真實野餐的情境並享受與好友分享食物的樂趣。透過模仿野餐的遊戲,激發幼兒的創造力和想像力,讓他們在遊戲中展現自己的扮演能力。

    在音樂課上,幼兒們認識了兒歌《小巴士》,他們跟著老師做動作並嘗試透過模仿發出簡單的聲音哼出兒歌旋律。幼兒與老師一起模仿拿著軚盤開車的動作,想像自己開著小巴士去探索郊野公園的冒險。

 

學習目的: 

1. 認識香港的郊野公園及設施

2. 學習在郊外野餐後要清理垃圾才能離開

3. 享受模擬野餐活動的樂趣

主題:「房屋」

  今星期開展新的主題「房屋」,運用圖片介紹家中不同的房間名稱及用途,例如: 睡房和浴室。邀請小朋友嘗試介紹自己的睡房特色,很多小朋友都分享睡房床單的顏色及有抱住洋娃娃陪伴睡覺,並學習保持家居清潔。另外,亦透過圖片介紹香港的高樓大廈和平房,並講《積木城市》的故事延伸請幼兒用積木拼砌出不同的大廈。老師預備不同的物料讓幼兒探索如何能疊到高的房子,透過分組堆砌的過程小朋友找出能疊最高的方法,最底需要體積大而平面的東西,例如紙盒,最高可以擺放膠樽較輕的東西,最後一同欣賞各組別的作品,他們都充滿想像力及創作力,成功推砌出很高的房子。

 

學習目標:

1.  能配對不同物品圖片到適當的房間內。

2.  運用積木拼砌不同的高樓大廈。

3. 享受用不同物料推砌出房子。

主題----「交通工具」

     今週展開了新的主題「交通工具」。從中,幼兒描述不同的車廂標誌,並分享自己乘搭交通工具的所見所聞。透過老師的介紹,小朋友更掌握到各設施的用途,像是失明人士引導徑和電子支付收費器。他們更興奮地討論與規劃路線如何去到自己設定的目的地。小朋友更同時認讀了交通工具的名稱,包括港鐵、貨車、計程車和電車。

其次, 此週老師帶領幼兒重溫語文技巧—「動詞」。老師邀請小朋友出來示範各種動作,並讓其他小朋友猜從而加深他們對動詞的理解。且給與實際例子讓他們找出句子內涵蓋的動詞。另外,幼兒一起重溫代表時間、人物和地點的詞語。並嘗試去將這些元素組合成一句句子,並分析句子的結構。

學習目的:

1)  能辨認出車廂內的標誌

2) 能說出句子內的動詞

3) 能以時間、人物和地點去造句




K3

主題: 「衣服」 衣服款式多

今週老師透過討論故事《國王的新衣》,開展新主題「衣服」。本週主要讓幼兒認識不同衣服類別,探索用不同物料製作的衣服,學習穿著衣服及替自己選擇合適不同季節穿的衣物,讓小朋友學會按天氣及場合穿着合適的衣服。

此外,透過影片分享,老師帶小朋友虛擬參觀了不同的衣服店並以圖片介紹了洗衣標籤,讓小朋友認識衣物標籤上不同圖案符號的意思。

最後,老師亦向小朋友講解了時間詞及擴寫句子等語文技巧。

 

學習目的:

1)學習不同場合和季節的衣服進行分類

2)學習穿脫衣服 (扣鈕,魔術貼,拉鍊)

3)學習閱讀衣物標籤

4)探索社區中不同的衣服店
