Highlights of the Week (24/25 Term 1 Week 15)

PN

Hi to all of you! Welcome to week 15! Winter is here! Our PN friends explored the wonders of winter, diving into both the chilly season and some fun activities in the class. We even played dress-up, helping ourselves understand how to bundle up to stay warm during the cold season.

For English, we focused on the letter I and its related words iguana, ice, insects, and igloo. We were excited to have the hands-on experience of feeling the real ice cubes and watching videos of iguanas in their natural habitat.

For Math, we talked about the colour blue. From the sky to the sea, blue is everywhere! We also had a blast searching for blue items in the classroom during our scavenger hunt! We found lots of blue toys, books, and pictures!

What a wonderful week of learning! We can’t wait to see what next week brings!

K1

Welcome to Week 15 of our learning journey! As we approach the festive season, the children have been filled with excitement and creativity. This week, they joyfully made Christmas cards for their families, allowing them to express their love and holiday spirit through art.

In phonics this week, we focused on the sounds /g/ and /h/. During our Cambridge lessons, we explored a story that emphasizing the importance of being helpful. We also practiced using the phrase "Do you like...?" along with the responses "Yes, I do" and "No, I don't."

In Math, we worked on counting up to 9, incorporating fun games to make learning enjoyable. We also introduced the concepts of "up" versus "down," using visual aids and physical activities to illustrate these ideas in a tangible way.

That concludes our activities for this week. We look forward to seeing you next week!

K2

This week, our K2 students continued to talk about to topic of Christmas. We read a story about Mary Christmas, who didn’t like Christmas at first but learned that sharing makes Christmas joyful and enjoyable for everyone. We also started making a Christmas card for our Mommies and Daddies.

In math, we continued to learn about the equals sign (=) and did some revisions on counting. Students took turns coming up to the smartboard and writing down the equals sign if the characters are the same amount as the number shown on the screen and a cross if they are not the same.

In our Cambridge lessons, we continued exploring our five senses. We talked about how we look with our eyes, taste with our mouths, and hear with our ears. The students learned to describe different tastes and sounds, noting that apples taste sweet while chips taste salty. They also concluded that sirens sound loud and butterflies are beautiful.

We also had Grandparents Day this week! The students were ecstatic to see their grandpas and grandmas and play games together! We can’t wait for the next Grandparents Day!

That’s it for this week! See you next time!

K3

Hello K3 parents! Welcome to another week of learning in our K3 classrooms. In our Cambridge lesson, we continued last week’s topic on face parts and adjectives describing people’s feelings by playing a quick recall game. A volunteer will suggest an adjective and then show this through facial expressions and body language. In addition, we learned about the months of the year through a song and applied what we learned by accomplishing a page in our workbooks.

This week, we continued to expound our math lesson by expanding our understanding of Grid Maps. We are now looking at 4x4, 5x5, and even 6x6 maps. It was a great challenge for everyone, yet we had fun learning to read a bigger map. We took our lesson even further by listening to the given coordinates and marking the correct positions on the map. What a great challenge!

To continue the Christmas cheer in our Critical Thinking class, we sang Christmas carols and read an amusing Christmas story called Santa’s Underwear. Are you all excited for Christmas like us? See you next week for another blog!
