Highlights of the Week (24/25 Term 1 Week 20)

Hello everyone! What a fantastic week we had at school! Our theme was "All About the Body," and our Pre-Nursery children loved it! We began the week with a fun story about Pippa and Pop that discussed drawing and coloring the body parts of a robot. Then, we energized the day by singing various exercise songs and enjoyed jumping, stretching, and dancing to the rhythm! We had so much fun moving our bodies and learning how important exercise is for staying strong and healthy.

We also focused on the letter K and related words such as Kangaroo, Koala, Kite, King, and Key. We had a blast hopping around the classroom like kangaroos, and we even pretended to fly colorful kites while discussing which kites we liked best.

In Math, we explored the number 7 in a super playful way! We took turns throwing bean bags into a basket, but with a twist: we had to make sure to throw just the right number of bean bags! It was such a fun game! What an amazing week of learning! We can’t wait to see what next week brings!




K1

K1 had an enriching week as we approached the end of Term 1. For Cambridge, we explored Unit 5: “Outdoors,” focusing on weather patterns and appropriate attire for various conditions. We danced and sang songs related to different types of weather and enjoyed reading a story called Rainy Day Fun.

In our Phonics lessons, we continued learning the sounds of the alphabet. We revisited familiar sounds and introduced the new sounds /m/, /n/, and /o/ using engaging props and activities. In math, we covered concepts such as front and back and the diamond shape, with a particular emphasis on numbers 1-10.

The students had a great time learning about “People Who Help Us,” focusing on the role of doctors this week. We explored how doctors assisted us, enjoyed insightful stories, and participated in interactive dress-up games to enhance our understanding of the topic. Additionally, we shone a spotlight on X-rays and enjoyed creating our very own X-ray craft!




K2

It was a beautiful week in K2 as we observed and discussed “What Plants Need to Grow.” We used these lessons to care for our very own plant by ensuring it received daily sunlight and enough water. Our Phonics lessons were filled with activities and games that enabled us to practice blending and decoding as a group.

During our critical thinking sessions, we continued to appreciate the role of “Community Helpers” in our lives, focusing this week on “Mr. Postman.” We engaged in imaginative play by acting out different scenarios that occur when mail is delivered from one person to another. In our Math lessons, we continued our counting journey, reaching up to number forty, and practiced addition using our toys to help us combine numbers.

The week ended on a celebratory note as we acknowledged our peers who were rewarded for their efforts in our Monthly Pathfinder Awards. Well done, friends!

We eagerly look forward to next week and the many activities in store for us.




K3

Hello again, everyone! We are having a great week as we prepare for our big Chinese New Year party! In our Critical Thinking lesson, we continued discussing community helpers, focusing on first responders. Last week, we talked about paramedics, the tools they use, and the important role they play in our community. This week, we introduced two new first responders: mountain rescuers and coast guards! Many students expressed interest in becoming these community helpers as well.

In our math lessons this week, we covered the place values of ones and tens. We used number blocks to help us visualize the differences between them. We also introduced mixed arithmetic by adding and subtracting three single-digit numbers all at the same time!

During our physical play, we focused on building our coordination by working on hand-eye coordination. We first practiced catching a bean bag and then tried catching it while clapping, too! We also practiced tossing the bean bags with our partners.

主題---「郊遊」

    今週為主題「郊遊」的第二週,老師與幼兒們搜集有關風箏的資料。透過圖片和影片,向幼兒介紹不同種類的風箏。另外,老師與幼兒一起進行藝術創作,老師為幼兒提供各種藝術材料,讓他們自由發揮創意,設計和創作屬於自己的風箏。其後,幼兒透過說話分享自己的作品,彼此互相欣賞作品並共同享受放風箏的樂趣,透過放風箏活動激發他們對郊遊的興趣。

    幼兒亦認識了「牛」的字形和字義。老師以字卡展示「牛」字的字形,讓幼兒觀察其字形的結構和特徵,並模擬畫直、橫線。其後,老師以遊戲方式加深幼兒對牛字的認識,幼兒將牛圖片送回寫有「牛」字的牛舍,配對完成後,幼兒能讀出牛字字音,並模仿牛的聲音。。    

    接著,幼兒簡單認識上中下的空間概念,知道小鳥、蝴蝶和蜜蜂是在天空上飛行,魚和烏龜在圖畫下的湖中游泳,而小狗和兔子則在圖畫中間的草地玩耍。

 

學習目的: 

1. 享受模擬放風箏的樂趣

2. 認識「牛」的字形和字義

3. 分辨上中下的空間概念

主題:「房屋」

  今星期是主題「房屋」的最後一週,運用相片和影片認識香港及其他國家不同房屋的特色,例如: 高樓大廈、村屋、冰屋、大澳棚屋和樹屋等,小朋友能自行投選出最喜愛的特色房屋。

  另外,透過觀看建築工人建造房屋的影片流程,老師介紹建築設計師和建築工人的工作,亦認識到不同的建築材料有磚頭、水泥、鐵線等,而且還需要很多建築工人合作興建。老師預備不同的物料讓幼兒探索如何能疊到高的房子,透過分組堆砌的過程小朋友找出能疊最高的方法,最底需要體積大而平面的東西,例如紙盒,最高可以擺放膠碗等較輕的東西,他們都充滿想像力及創作力,成功推砌出高樓大廈。最後,幼兒進行小手工畫出自己理想的房屋,完成後與好朋友介紹自己的作品。

 

學習目標:

1. 能說出不同國家房屋的名稱。

2. 享受用不同物料堆砌出高樓大廈。

3.享受畫畫的樂趣。




K2

主題----「交通工具」

     今週是「交通工具」主題的最後一,老師以「飛行家萊特兄弟」的故事讓幼兒了解到飛機的發明過程,學習永不放棄的精神,小朋友更分享他們搭飛機經驗。另外,並一起認識較少接觸的水上和空中的交通工具例如郵輪、直升機、天星小輪等等,小朋友更互相探討交通工具的設施功用和多元化的種類。

另外,本週小朋友多練習動詞的運用和時、地和人的句子組合,他們越來越熟悉組織句子的結構,他們也發現句式大多有規律性,先提及時間,之後會到人物,最後才是地點。最後,透過故事《在車廂裏》讓幼兒學習乘車時應有的禮儀,小朋友都能分享自己在乘車時應有的禮儀。

 

學習目的:

1) 嘗試以時間、人物、地點的組合作句

2) 能依從正確筆順寫出「火車」

3) 能分辨對與錯的乘車禮儀




K3

主題:衣服

今週繼續探討主題「衣服」,我們探索了不同國家的服飾,了解各地文化的獨特風格與傳統服裝。小朋友對於各種服裝的顏色和圖案都產生濃厚興趣,更培養了欣賞及尊重的情操。此外,我們也探討了如何給予舊衣物第二生命,鼓勵孩子們發揮創意,設計和改造舊衣,從而推廣環保意識。最後,小朋友自信地化身小小模特兒,在時裝表演中展示自己的特色衣服,體驗表演的樂趣與成就感,增強了自信心與團隊合作精神,為他們的學習旅程增添了色彩。

 

學習目的: 1) 認識不同國家的服式

2) 探究怎樣給予舊衣物第二生命

3) 能有自信地當小模特兒完成時裝表演
