Highlights of the Week (24/25 Term 2 Week 6)

PN

We had another exciting and fun-filled week in our pre-nursery class! This week, our theme was all about pets, and we focused on fish! We got a chance to see a real fish in a small tank and even had the opportunity to feed it. We learned how to take care of a fish at home and discovered that fish need three important things to live happily - water, food, and a home (tank). We were fascinated by the little fish and enjoyed observing its movements!  For English, we were introduced to the letter P and its related words such as pig, pencil and pot. We practiced identifying the letter and its writing, and we even had a fun activity where we rolled on the mat like little pigs! We loved pretending to be pigs and giggled our way through the activity. For Math, we explored the number 8. We had a blast practicing counting by doing various actions eight times, such as jumping, bending and clapping. It was such a great way to combine physical activities with learning numbers!  Overall, it was a week full of discovery, laughter and growth. We look forward to another exciting week ahead!

K1

It’s been an eventful week as we started blending with our K1s in phonics this week. We played games to introduce the concept of blending our single sounds together to make two sound blends. We learned that when you blend sounds together, they can make words that have meaning. In Cambridge, we delved deeper into our food topic by discussing where our food comes from. Critical Thinking was incredibly fun this week as we spoke about the differences between ‘Day’ and “Night”. We played a sorting game, where we organised activities into ‘day’ and ‘night’. It was particularly interesting as students were able to relate certain activities that we do such as brushing our teeth, having our meals, playing and more activities to their own personal routines. It was such a great opportunity to encourage everyone to share their own personal experiences in English, while learning interesting things about everyone’s schedule outside of school. In Math, we practiced counting to 13 and challenged ourselves by trying to write the number 13 too. The birthday party at the end of the week was a great way to end the week; we can’t wait for more fun next week!

K2

What an amazing week we’ve had in K2! We've been busy with tons of games and activities that made learning super fun!

In our Cambridge lessons, we got to use simple sentences to talk about our friends, using words like “His” and “Her.” It was so exciting to describe our classmates! During Phonics, we teamed up as “Teacher A” and “Teacher B” to help each other blend sounds together. We even wrote some funny sentences that made us all giggle!

This month’s theme is “Space,” and we couldn’t resist lighting up our classrooms with our colourful drawings of Mr. Sun and how he helps us here on Earth! In Math, we enjoyed some friendly competition with team games to see which group could add the fastest. Go teams!

Finally, Friday arrived, and we got to dress up in our fabulous “Nature” costumes. We celebrated with delicious cake and had a blast exploring all the cool activities set up around the school.

It’s been a fantastic week in K2, and we can’t wait to see what next week has in store for us!

K3

Hello mommies and daddies! We had such a wonderful week here at ABC. We had a fun birthday party on Friday, and we loved all the games we got to play. During our Critical Thinking lessons this week, we continued to discuss space and all the things you might find there. We are preparing for our next presentations and are excited to show you what we learned for this unit. For Math lessons this week, we continued to discuss the different types of money we might find in Hong Kong. This week we focus on the coins of Hong Kong currency, and began to discuss the difference between dollars and cents. We learned 100 cents is equal to 1 dollar! In Physical Play this week, we tested our agility by racing in a square, touching each cone as we went around each corner. We have some speedy students in ABC! We hope everyone has a wonderful rest of their weeks and we will see you next week!
