This week, we revised our shapes and we are also familiarizing ourselves with different members of the family. We are also learning that animals have families, too, such as dogs, cats, horses and even wild animals, like lions and monkeys. For our maths concepts, we learned about objects that are full or empty, such as, how to tell if a jar is full of sweets or is empty. Our letter for the week is ‘M’ and we learned that ‘monkey’, ‘mouse’, ‘mushroom’ and ‘moose’ all start with the letter ‘M’. With the birthday party this week, we are excited to dress up in our theme of the 60’s – 80’s. We love to be funky!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at ABC Pathways and it’s that time of the year when we feel joy all around us! Our K1 children began learning all about Christmas this week! We learned some Christmas vocabulary like Santa Claus, Reindeer, Presents, Candy Cane with the help of a fun guessing game. We learned many Christmas carols, which we will be singing every day in the coming weeks. We ended our Critical Thinking lessons this week by making a cute Christmas tree craft. We were super excited to attempt it all by ourselves! For Cambridge, it was our last week of the Toy unit; we learned about different physical activities like hopping, skipping, jumping, and so on. What a great beginning to the month of December!

This week for Critical Thinking we are learning about vibration and how sound waves travel to our ear drums and that they can be identified by our brain.A lot of experiments were carried out with the children to show that vibration is like objects moving back and forth. They were given the chance to see the movement of the rice as students hit the drum as well as looking at how salt would “dance around” on a tray as loud music was played to illustrate the vibration of sound. The students loved all the experiments and were really excited to learn such an interesting concept!

It’s been a great week in K3 as we said goodbye to November and “Hello!” to December! In Maths, we’re expanding our knowledge of grids by challenging ourselves to use 4x4 and even 5x5 grids! We’re also continuing with subtraction by subtracting numbers up to 30. For Critical Thinking this month, we’ll focus on Christmas! We got a start on our Christmas cards this week by thinking about who we want to send “best wishes” to for the holidays. We even started painting our cards. We had a few special events this week too. On Monday, we shared what we already knew about germs and reviewed how to wash our hands properly. And on Friday we had our December Birthday Party in our fun 60s-80s outfits! It was a groovy week!
