Highlights of the Week

Our youngest learners had another fun week at school! It is their second book week, and the children enjoyed listening to stories and trying some role playing. They also loved creating new art work based on the stories they read. For English, the children learned about the sound /i/ and the words that begin it: ink, inside, instruments, insect, igloo, iguana. The children loved practicing their /i/ sound and playing the musical instruments. For Math, this week was about reviewing the concepts of big and small, empty and full, up and down. Have a wonderful weekend ahead and remember to wear sunscreen when playing outdoors!




K1

Our K1 students have worked so hard learning and reinforcing their knowledge on all our Cambridge units throughout the year. In our last few weeks, we are going to look at some stories that encourage interesting discussions in class. This week we read the story of “The Ugly Duckling” and the students came up with the phrase “different is beautiful” which truly is a beautiful motto. We demonstrated this idea by designing our very own ducklings and talking about what makes them different and beautiful in their own way. The story also prompted discussions about inclusion and being kind to everyone. In Critical Thinking this week we spoke about packing for a holiday or staycation with our families. It was great to see that our students are good at sorting the things we should pack for a warm versus cold vacation. Math was lots of fun this week as we used our drawing skills and our favourite classroom toys to learn the concept of ‘one more than’. It was an eventful week and we look forward to more fun next week!

This week for Critical Thinking we are learning about other countries in Asia such as Japan, South Korea, Thailand and India. Students were shown an introductory video of each country and we also looked at the different types of food eaten in these places. Without a doubt, students love Japanese food the most and they are most familiar with sushi, rice and noodles. They seem least familiar with Thai and Indian food possibly due to the spicy taste. Students could also share their experiences of eating different types of food and looking at how different the food is cooked.

For Math, students are measuring how tall they are by stacking paper bricks up to their heights. They had a lot of fun in this activity where they can help to measure how tall their friends are. At the end, we put all of their heights in a table and students can learn how to record their own heights as well as their friends’ heights in a chart.

Hello everyone! We had another wonderful week here at ABC. We are getting close to graduation and have been diligently practicing getting ready for the big day! In our maths class we reviewed our telling time concepts such as quarter past, quarter to, half past and o’clock. We also continued to work on our word problems with subtraction as well as continuing to build upon subtraction with borrowing as well. During our physical play we worked on our gross motor skills with fun games like hopscotch and walking with a balloon between our legs! Have a wonderful rest of your week, and we will see you all very soon!

主題: 「夏天到」

今週開展新的主題「夏天到」,夏天來到了天氣炎熱,學習選擇穿上合適的衣服,讓小朋友認識夏天的天氣,並介紹夏天會進行的活動,讓小朋友選擇自己喜歡的活動,更會進行模擬遊戲,模擬讓小朋友到沙灘玩樂感受夏天的氣氛。


學習目的: (1) 選舉自己喜好的夏天活動

(2) 認識夏天的天氣和景象

(3) 享受模擬到沙灘玩耍的遊戲

主題:「夏天到」—夏天天氣熱


本週展開新主題「夏天到」。老師透過出示不同夏天景象的圖片及影片,例如颱風或暴雨情境的片段,幼兒認識到夏天的天氣特徵─天氣炎熱、颱風及雨量偏多,認讀了不同天氣的警告圖示,並討論不同天氣帶來的影響及預防措施。我們亦從配對遊戲中,認識夏天服飾的特性,懂得分辨在不同天氣情況下選取合適的衣服。

此外,透過圖片描述,我們更認識了多個夏天的消暑方法,其中包括游泳,幼兒都雀躍地分享游泳經驗,老師亦藉此讓幼兒知道游泳的安全守則。 最後,透過故事小劇場,幼兒模擬日常清潔步驟,因此知道夏天天氣炎熱,較容易流汗,我們更要常常保持身體清潔,注意衛生及儀容。

3.知道游泳是夏天最好的消暑活動。

主題:「夏天」─探索夏天的天氣及天氣警告信號

今週展開新主題「夏天」。老師利用一段天氣報告作引起動機,提問幼兒最近的天氣是怎樣的?有下雨嗎?我們又會穿甚麼衣服呢?老師藉此讓幼兒多了解夏天的天氣特質:炎熱、多雨水和出現颱風等,老師並提醒幼兒外出活動時要注意天氣變化及留意天氣警告信號,穿著合適的衣服,例如下雨穿著雨衣或拿雨傘等。同時,老師帶出在惡劣天氣下,記得注意環境安全、保護自己。家長們可與小朋友在家中一同查看香港天文台,一同找出不同的天氣警告信號啊!

語文技巧方面,幼兒認識了「土」部首及相關字詞,他們很快便能分辨「土」部首的字。此外,幼兒對「量詞」的認識也十分感興趣,他們嘗試為日常生活接觸到的物件配上量詞,家長可透過家課與孩子再作重溫,溫故知新。


學習目的:

(1) 認識夏天的天氣特質

(2) 認識暴雨、颱風、水浸及山泥傾瀉警告信號

(3) 培養在惡劣天氣下保護自己的意識

主題:「我愛運動」

本週開始展開新主題-「我愛運動」,老師以「2020東京奧運會」的紀錄影片作引起動機,請幼兒分組分享個人的運動經驗。然後,老師也運用圖片和示範教學影片,請幼兒一起模仿各項運動的姿態動作,從而認識常見的運動名稱及玩法。於體能活動時間,小朋友更變身運動員,舉行了一場小小運動會呢!過程中,幼兒除了明白到運動安全守則的重要性,也透過做運動培養了堅毅的精神。

在語文技巧方面,幼兒今週繼續練習排序成短文的技巧,希望能鞏固在寫作方面的基礎。
